Abstract: IT (Information Technology) entrepreneurs have been contributing greatly to economic growth and job creation. Despite its importance, IT entrepreneurship remains understudied in business research. Particularly, the study of IT entrepreneurial behavior has been ignored in both Information Systems (IS) and entrepreneurship disciplines. Utilizing the social cognitive career theory (SCCT), this study, for the first, time investigates empirically IT entrepreneurial behavior among college students. The results indicate that students’ IT entrepreneurial intention is determined directly by their expected outcomes, social influence, and self-efficacy. The study concludes with recommendations for IS education in business schools.
